Roofing Company Not Showing on Google Maps? What to Check

Maps visibility depends on whether your profile is eligible and verified, then on relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is the one you can't change.

By the Lead Engine Sales and Marketing team · Updated

Quick answer

If your roofing company doesn't show on Google Maps, first confirm the Business Profile is verified, not suspended, and represents the business accurately under Google's guidelines. Then check relevance (categories, services, description), distance (searchers far from your address or service area will see closer companies) and prominence (reviews, mentions, website strength). Also look for duplicate profiles splitting your signals. No one can guarantee a fixed map radius.

Eligibility

First: is the profile eligible and live?

  • The profile is verified and you can manage it.
  • It isn't suspended or showing a policy notice.
  • The business name matches your real-world name, without added keywords or cities.
  • If you hide your address as a service-area business, the service area is set to real areas you serve.
  • The address, if shown, is a real location where you meet customers or have staff, not a virtual office.

Google's guidelines for representing your business define what is eligible. Profiles that break them risk suspension.

Ranking

Relevance, distance and prominence

FactorWhat it meansWhat you can do
RelevanceHow well the profile matches the searchAccurate primary category, services list, description, photos
DistanceHow far the business is from the searcher or searched locationLittle; it reflects where you're based. Don't fake addresses.
ProminenceHow well known the business isGenuine reviews, consistent listings, a strong website and local mentions

Google describes these three factors in how local ranking works.

Duplicates

Check for duplicates and conflicts

Search Maps for your business name, phone number and old addresses. Duplicate or outdated profiles can confuse which listing to show. Follow Google's process to report or merge duplicates rather than creating new profiles. Then check your company facts across your website and main directories; see business information consistency.

Expectations

Realistic expectations

A roofing company based in one town will usually be most visible in Maps close to that town. Visibility further out is harder and depends on competition. Your website can still rank organically in towns you genuinely serve; see SEO in neighboring cities.
